Mike - So Sunday was a very special one - Dr. Rev. Joe Kayo came to Deliverance Church Kondele to speak. This doesn't sound like a big deal - but it was HUGE. Dr. Kayo is the founder of the Deliverance Church in Kenya, and is the father of the Pentecostal movement in Kenya - meaning he was the first man to ever do big crusades here. His life was threatened several times, but God was faithful. He has been preaching for 53 years now, and has traveled to every continent on the planet to preach, and almost every country. He has achieved 4 doctorates! AND - because his mom died when he was only 12, he had to drop out of school in grade 6.
The Deliverance Church Kondele has been trying to land Dr. Joe Kayo for the past 3 years, but he hasn't been able to come. Finally - he felt the Lord calling him to come yesterday. It was amazing! His preaching was epic - and both Becky and I were blown away by his humble heart. We were also fortunate enough to join Pastor Jasper and Dr. Kayo for lunch at his hotel in between services - and enjoyed two hours talking about life stories. It was incredible - and so refreshing. We were truly blessed by his wisdom and words. He is traveling to Rwanda soon, to bring together parliament and government officials to bring about political reconciliation.
In a country (Kenya), where we are told the majority of pastors are corrupt and are struggling with integrity issues - Dr. Kayo is the real deal! Thank you Lord for blessing us.
